Espresso: a dark roast built for pressure

Espresso machines, moka pots, AeroPress. A dark roast developed for concentrated brewing — bold up front, sweet in the middle, none of the burnt taste that cheap dark roasts leave behind. 12 oz bags, whole bean or espresso ground.

Clear Roast Espresso label design

Espresso-roast coffee is roasted darker than drip coffee because pressure brewing extracts flavor fast and needs beans with soluble, caramelized sugars to taste balanced instead of sour. A proper espresso roast tastes bold and sweet with a thick crema, not charred. Grind fineness matters more than the roast name — even the best espresso beans make a thin, sour shot if ground too coarse.

What it tastes like

Dark chocolate, brown sugar, low bitterness. It stands up to milk — the flavor survives a latte instead of disappearing into it.

How to brew it

Espresso machine first, moka pot second, AeroPress third. If you buy it pre-ground, order the espresso grind — it's finer than drip. Whole bean is best if you own a burr grinder.
